Toledo Day Trip

so today after going to bed around 2:30 it was hard to get up. but i did it. and fortunately we had an 1 1/2 hour bus ride to sleep, so that helped greatly! but we got there and were able to have a coffee stop, and man does the cafe con leche give me a boost!!!!! so i was good to go the rest of the day. toledo was amazing, it was a 2,000 year old town surrounded by a moat. there was a castle, a magnificent cathedral, and some other little churches as well. today we had the same tour guide and luckily not as much walking and hiking as yesterday in segovia! today we hung out with the same girls as yesterday and met up with another named lindsay, who ironically is from new canaan, connecticut and knows yes guess who brennan van munching! small little world! so we got quite a kick out of that! but she is really sweet and really fun. and we all plan on meeting up tonight! so im looking forward to that and hopefully a semi-early (for the spanish people) night, and i think me and christen are on the same page so we can walk home together. so more news coming tomorrow.

another night out

me and christen and andrew met up with claire and megan, who we had met in segovia. we didnt want to be out too late cause we had another day trip the next day to Toledo. so we made sure to catch the 1:30 metro home (which is when the metro closes). we all met up around 11:00 and we found a cool bar with a really neat atmosphere but the drinks were not good and expensive, so we made sure to get out of there as soon as we could. and with it already being 12:30 we just decided to go have a drink on one of the outside patio bars and just visit until we had to catch the metro. so sorry nothing too exciting about that evening! but cute pictures!

Segovia Day Trip

well today we headed to Segovia, a place that i thought i hadn't ever been too but as soon as we arrived i knew that nygil had taken us there before. but what can ya do? it was a really nice town with a lot of history and i didn't remember there being so much walking, although i think our guide was out to kill our legs. i know that as a fact with nygil we did not scale a mountain just to get to a tiny little church!! i definately got my work out in today but let me tell you the hike was not really worth the sight that our guide wanted to see, but walking to the church we found some pretty cool full views of the castle that was in segovia. it was just me and Christen (from the picture below) on the trip and we met these really sweet girls (of whom names have escaped my mind...what can i say i have a little of my father in me!). but we are going out with those girls tonight so i will make sure to get their names from Christen and get pictures! 

my housemate is still gone, she went on an orientation trip for the weekend (im not sure if i told you). so its just me to talk to my senora and its a little scary sometimes! 

oh and ps Garrett, dad, mom, and lucas (pattie not sure if you were there...) - but i found the crazy hawaiian bar that we went to when we were here! i can see the picture of garrett with that huge drink with several straws! so im looking forward to checking it out to see if its still the same!!!!

but im headed out tonight and on a day trip tomorrow to Toledo so ill have lots of scoop tomorrow!!!

night out

so we (in the picture left to right, kristen, kathleen, bryce, andrew, and my housemate mckaela...ps just notice no shot by me haha nothing new there!) went out last night for the first time, decided to break ourselves in a little bit. we heard about this great bar from one of our friends' roommate so we headed that direction not knowing where else to go. once we finally got there (kinda in the middle of nowhere lucky there were guys with us girls) we found out it was a complete american bar. but had cheap beer so we decided to stay and check it out. it was a tiny tiny hole in the wall with people playing beer pong and flip cup which i got in on of course. the people where really nice, all of them spoke english. but we had a great time! still missing all of you though! today im headed out with two friends to check out the city cause everyone is going on orientation trips for the weekend. im looking into going on daytrips to segovia and toledo so ill keep you updated!

Finalmente!

well i finally made it here after traveling for hours! i flew with the group that was coming to my school here so it was really nice to meet everyone on the plane and have some people to visit with on layovers and such. my host mom picked me up at the airport with the other student im living with Mckayla. we each have our own room which is really nice! and she lives close to school (10min walk). her flat is on the top floor (fancy stuff) and so she has this huge terrace with a nice table and lawn chairs, i look forward to spending much time out there "studying" and laying in the HOT sun! still pretty nervous about the language and just the whole situation, still settling in so it will take some time. but i just wanted to let you know i made it and i should have some more news coming in the next few days! love all of you! and miss you guys terribly! please write back and tell me all your news!
